Eco-Council

Meet the Eco Council…

We are the Eco Council! There are two of us from every year group and we meet every Wednesday to discuss what we can do to help improve our school environment! The first thing we did in our meetings this year was to create our very own mascot called ‘Erik the Eco Warrior’. We thought this would be a really good way of reminding our friends in school to look after Highfield in an eco-friendly way. Images of Erik have since been placed in classrooms near light switches, taps and plug sockets as a reminder to all of us that we need to care for our planet with these small steps – and that goes for our teachers too! Now that the weather is improving, we have regular litter picks scheduled and many more exciting plans in place for the spring and summer terms to make sure we are being top Eco-Warriors.

Remember Highfield: Be keen to go green!

I wanted to be an eco-councillor because I really want to help make our school a better place. I have so many ideas to help recycle and I am really interested in growing plants. - Mason

As an eco-councillor, it is my duty to help protect the environment. I know by making changes in school, I can make changes to the world. If we all start to recycle plastic and not litter, our planet will be safe.- Isobel

I know how important it is to look after our planet and I feel a sense of responsibility for my generation. I want to do this by encouraging people my age to make small, daily changes - then the world will be a better place. - Callum.
