Diorama Fun

In Year 3 we have been learning about Rivers and Coasts. We created 3D dioramas of coasts and beaches using paint and a range of materials including rocks and sand. We planned and designed our boxes before creating them before we brought our ideas to life. We loved creating our very own beaches!

Super Sketching

In Art, we have been working on our sketching techniques this term and have been making the most of the lovely weather. We sat out on the grass and practiced hatching, cross hatching and ink washing. We then used the techniques to draw and sketch a river scene from our topic book The Wind in the Willows.

Clever Cooking

Each Thursday afternoon, the chefs come into our classrooms and we have been making some delicious food. We get to put aprons on, cut and prepare the food and are learning some great skills! We have made fruit kebabs, omelettes and pancakes.

Broomhouse Farm Visit

We had a great time when we visited Broom House Farm this term. We found out about all the different animals. We held hens and collected their eggs. We met ‘Big Dave’ who was a huge pig that lived on the farm! We even got to explore the Adventure Forest and enjoyed building fairy houses and going on the zip-wire. We also learned about how important farming is and gathered some fun facts about nature!

The Egyptians

We have been finding out about the Egyptians. We really enjoyed learning about mummies and pyramids – we even found an ancient tomb in our school, we couldn’t believe it! We did some fantastic work based on the book ‘The Egyptian Cinderella’ in literacy and we made scarab beetles out of clay. Additionally, we had an Egyptian feast. We ate dates, traditional bread, sultanas and grapes.
